I am happy to announce that the new fiscal year has started, which means I can now enroll new families in the Highlandtown Family Stability Program. Please share the attached flier with your clients and community contacts.
The Highlandtown Family Stability Program provides emergency financial assistance and intensive case management to families who are in danger of losing their housing and/or having a utility turned off. To be eligible for the Highlandtown Family Stability Program, families must have at least one child at one of the following elementary/middle schools:
· Highlandtown #215
· Highlandtown #237
· John Ruhrah
· Tench Tilghman
(To find out about other Family Stability Programs that work with other schools, call 211.)
Families who apply for the Highlandtown Family Stability Program must:
· Be able to show they are at immediate risk of losing their housing or having a utility turned off (ex: eviction notice, landlord letter, utility bill, etc.)
· Have enough income to be able to pay their housing bills after receiving a one-time financial assistance. All types of income are counted. Families with no income will not be eligible.
· Be interested in working on longer-term financial stability goals, and be willing to meet regularly with the case manager (me) to work on these goals for a minimum of 6 months.
There is also a pre-screening form that you can use to determine whether someone is likely to be eligible for the Highlandtown Family Stabiltiy Program. Using this form is optional and meant to be helpful. It is always okay to refer a family and have me do all the screening.
There are no requirements regarding IDs or immigration status. In fact, I highly encourage you to refer clients who have trouble seeking assistance from other agencies due to these types of barriers. I speak Spanish and can work with clients who speak other languages using phone interpretation services.
You can refer a family to my program by calling or emailing me, or encouraging families to contact me directly. My phone number is 443-208-7401 and my email is kate@southeastcdc.org.
Thank you,
Kate Jakuta
